Walking a labyrinth is a gift we give ourselves

St. Thomas Labrinth

Walking a labyrinth is a gift we give ourselves

My dear friend Joan and I decided to take a walk in the St. Thomas labrinth in Houston. We had a wonderful time relaxing our busy minds. We feel that we should all take a break from the every day routine of life and find things that we enjoy. We regulally look for interesting, fun opportunities to expand our lives and we highly recommend that you find ways to get out of your routine. We absolutly loved our time and plan many more days like this.

A labyrinth is a pattern with a purpose and they are undergoing a resurgence of interest.  Walking a labyrinth is a gift we give to ourselves that helps us relax enough to get past our ego to a deeper place within. Many people find  wonderous insight and creative ideas, relaxation and stress release, happiness and even answers to serious life questions.  Its many turns reflect the journey of life, which involves changes of direction, transition, some uncertainty but also discovery.

Thinking is not required to walk a labyrinth and at the same time, one must remain alert to stay on the path. This combination of reduced mental activity and heightened awareness makes the labyrinth ideal for walking meditation or prayer. Some walk or dance the labyrinth just for the fun of it, or to express a certain intent or wish.  Walking the labyrinth is more about the journey than the destination, about being rather than doing. If you’ve never been, we encourage you to try going with a question in mind intending to find the answer you’ve been looking for.

We hope that you will find a labyrinth near you and take the time to enjoy the journey!

Loving life and all it’s twists and turns!

Attract and Maintain Prosperity

Prosperity Tree

Attract and Maintain Prosperity

Prosperity is usually thought of in finances but in reality we must FEEL WEALTHY in all areas of our life. Prosperity is a state of mind in which one has happiness and peace within. Some people have a few thousand dollars in the bank and consider themselves lucky and prosperous. Strange as it may seem, others feel like they are close to the poor house with a million dollars. Keep in mind that your prosperity comes from all areas of life like your health, love, and a peaceful mind.

Your mind will work with your thoughts as a whole so, if you’re feeling like you’re lacking in love or health it will spill over into another area and you will not be as effective in your finances. If you want to attract and maintain prosperity in your finances, keep your mental attitude focused on the whole you.

Keep an attitude of continual expectancy, having a state of mind that is always open to new ideas, inspiration and intuition that flows in from your higher mind.

Learning and practicing meditation is essential for quieting your thoughts of lack and reprogramming your inner consciousness for greater prosperity. Knowing that the manifesting universe always gives you what you FEEL (vibrate) will keep you in an inner state of ONENESS that produces the greatest positive mental attitude for achieving over all prosperity. There are two different approaches to meditation, one is done alone and the other is done in a group. Both approaches can be silent or with the use of sound and we suggest trying both. There are two types of meditation, one is passive where you still your mind, and the other is dynamic (active) where you visualize and think of that which you intend to attract into your life.

Practice the spiritual law ASK and YOU SHALL RECEIVE. Knowing through meditation that your higher mind, God, Goddess, Source, All that is, is within you and at the central core of your being you have within you the wisdom and intelligence of the entire universe working for you and through you. As if by magic this inner knowing attracts all things positive and prosperous. Ask, receive and keep track of your successes. Each time you succeed you will become even more confident.

Steps to attracting a prosperous life

• Meditate daily, open your mind and allow the prosperous vibrations to grow and reprogram your thoughts.
• Keep active, get out of your normal routine and take the inspired action that gives you better chances to be in the right place at the right time.
• Keep your mind open to all the possibilities. People and things can come to you in many different ways. Bartering, gifts and trades are just some of the ways the universe can give you what you ask for.
• When you have a negative thought, STOP and turn it around IMMEDIATELY. Affirm instead that you ARE prosperous already and that GOD, YOUR SOURCE is supplying your every need.
• Associate with people who also have a positive attitude about prosperity. If you have to be around someone who is saying something negative, love them but don’t allow their thoughts to influence yours.
• Live, think and act in ways that show you are ALREADY PROSPERSOUS.
• Each day declare within your mind that God is your TRUE source of supply.
• Frequent places in your area where you see affluence. Pick up on the positive vibrations and KNOW that GOD wants you to expand. Feeling good and prosperous is WONDERFUL.
• Reprogram your mind everyday with prosperity-thought affirmations. FEEL good about your thoughts, use words that allow your true feelings to flow from within.

Reprogram your Inner Consciousness
During your daily mediation time, repeat your affirmations at least 3 times. Find one that FEELS really good and write it down so you can see it all day and read it often. Each time you do this you are reprogramming your inner consciousness that influences your mind and mental attitude that attracts prosperity.

Below are some suggested affirmations;
Each day I share the wealth of Gods abundance around me.
Every day I live confidently, knowing that the source of my prosperity is working through me and directing me.
I am at peace and ready to allow in all that the power of God and the universe has for me.
I am already prosperous and this prosperity is beginning to materialize all around me.
All channels of my mind are open and I am receiving and acting on the inspired thoughts.
My mind is like a magnetic force drawing true prosperity to me.

Money in Your Pocket Shopping Game: Place a bill in your pocket and go window shopping. Each time you see something that you could purchase with your bill— say to yourself,” I could have that if I wanted it,” and continue to shop, repeating the phrase over and over with each possible purchase. You‘ll mentally spend the bill over and over again increasing your prosperity consciousness.

Checks from the Universe: Take a blank check and write out the amount that you would want to manifest. Post it in a power place that you frequent and each time you pass by imagine it is already yours.

Happiness and joy never leave us… we leave them! Happiness is ever present, lurking beneath the chaotic surface of the mind. The reason the child experiences so much joy is because they live mostly in the present moment.

Mind over Matter!

Mind Over Matter!

From left to right; Chris Lutz,Wanda Morris, Silva Method Instructor, Joan Maresh Hansen, Louise Dewey, Dare to Dream Queens

Attended an interesting Dare to Dream Seminar today which provided some interesting ideas about the  magnificent power of the mind. Our instructor is well known in the Houston area as Wanda Morris has been a Silva instructor for over 40 years. She actually trained under the founder of the Silva Mind Control Method, Jose Silva. Today’s intentions were to have each of the participants work on themselves and their own belief systems. We did five or six guided meditations. Comparisons were made to Hawaiian Kahunas and Mexican “healers.”  Morris said, “the truths have been told in countless ways since the beginning of time.”

Stories were told of miraculous healings and other stories like one man was thinking about calling his friend, both men are doctors. He then thought,” no he is probably busy at the hospital.” As he was going into the store, a piece of paper blew in front of him, he picked it up as litter and was going to dispose of it—it was his friend’s business card. He then stopped to call his doctor friend.

Another discussion lead us to the three levels of the human mind as described by the Hunas.

  • Level one is the lower self also called the subconscious  or inner conscious mind and this is where we were programmed since the time that we were children. The subconscious responds to image and feelings. This is what we must tap into in order to re-program.
  • Level two is the middle self or what we call consciousness—where we make decisions, here language is understood and used.
  • The third level is the high self—the high self resides outside of each of us and is our connection to what some call Source or God or Higher Intelligence.

When we ask for something and it does not come to fruition, Hunas say that it is because all of the three selves are not aligned.

Hunas say how it works is that the conscious mind makes a decision with a clear picture in mind of the goal. The conscious mind gives it to the low self ( sub or inner conscious mind) to give to the high self ( which resides outside of ourselves) so that high self can do what it takes to bring it into our reality.

This information is still being processed, so I am sharing my vague understanding of what I heard. I ask what books would clarify this information even further and the books below were mentioned. The course continues tomorrow and I am anxious to hear what else will be revealed. Stay tuned.

A Decision to be Happy

A Decision to be Happy!

Deciding to be Happy

We had our first Feel Good Gathering last night and I’m pleased that it happened in the first week of the New Year. Most of us want to see some action quickly after we have made a decision on changing our life or improving a portion of our lives and that’s exactly what we did last night. For those that like to be around happy, upbeat people or those that want to be one of those happy. upbeat people it was THE place to be.

Being happier requires taking inspired action, but it’s the action we take on the inside that makes the difference. If you surround yourself with like minded people and make a commitment to take inspired action then you will be well on your way to a DELIGHTFUL journey connecting to your higher self and living the best life you were meant to live. AND it will get easier and easier the more you practice.

Inspired action starts with an inner knowing of what is true and right without anyone telling you. When intuition puts you in touch with your higher self, you feel at peace, content, even in the midst of a difficult situation. Once you feel at ease and comfortable you can make the right choices. It really does come down to feeling. FEEL it and leap toward what feels good.

Some people call it intuition, hunches, sixth sense, higher self, or the inner voice. Whatever you call it, we all have it. Some people seem to have developed it better than others but that’s only because they’ve practiced. Have you ever had a hunch to do something that worked out well for you? You probably couldn’t explain the source of that thought, but you knew it was the right and good thing to do.

The best way to get in touch with your intuition is quieting the inner chatter. It’s then that you can hear your inner voice or intuition. We believe that the best way to start this practice is to meditate. As we discussed in our Feel Good Gathering, everyone is different so whatever way you can achieve this is fine. Try all kinds of methods and see what works best for you.

Some people have to physically sit still to shut off those thousands of thoughts that race through our heads (we like to call it our MONKEY MIND). Some achieve this through the many forms of meditation, others through self-hypnosis, and others through listening to soothing music but there are many more ways to quiet your inner critic. Walking in nature, watching fish swim around and around, sitting in front of a fireplace and one that was shared last night that EVERYONE could relate to was while in the middle of kids screaming and other irritating sounds while in a confined area like a plane is a decision that all is ok and just relaxing into all the noise, confusion and drama.

The more you practice getting in touch with your higher self or intuition, the more you will be able to FEEL the way you want to feel (GOOD) This will help you to allow in the relationships you desire and create the inner joy and happiness you deserve.

Sending this with LOVE,

Marian

Mystic Way

Mystic Way2Mystic Way

Socialogist and author, Andrew Greely, calls America, a nation of closet mystics. In the last decade, we have started coming out of the closet. Movies have been created about angels, life after death and the presence of a Universal Intelligence.  Many people define an interest in such things as New Age when actually mystical experiences are more old age as reports exist from thousands of years ago.

2711216214_e3430c6d89_sMystics, not theologians who are people studying religions, have been aware of a concept called SECOND SIGHT. Most religious leaders were simply satisfied with knowing this possibility exists, they did not take the steps necessary to apply this to the improvement of their own lives.

Second sight is defined as your mind seeing into itself. In Eastern practices, this is also known as the “THIRD EYE” or also called the eye of the SOUL. This third eye is said to be located between your two eyes. When one practices meditation in this way, some of the following might be experienced. Know that experiences will vary between individuals.

Individuals who meditate regularly may see:

  • Cloud like formations of different colors
  • Images of things, either flat or three dimensional, or an inner light.

Suggested methods for making contact with Universal Intelligence is through the consistent practice and application of meditation. The type of meditation where an attempt is made to make conscious contact with the Source of energy that makes worlds.

We have barely touched the surface of understanding this process. If you have an interest in meditation, many books are written on the topic and we will continue to discuss more of what can be experienced in future posts.

Joan Borysenko says.” There are moments in life that are watersheds, points of no return, when ones view of the cosmos is forever changed….  Experiencing life as a precious gift enables us to grow in love and wisdom.”

The deaths of both of my parents at an early age led to a long overdue daily practice of meditation. This coupled with a deepening of my understanding of life’s mysteries through books which are now complimented with a circle of like minded friends brought me to that incredible point of no return.

” A mystic sees beyond the illusion of separateness into the intricate web of life in which all things are expressions of a single Whole, You can call this web God, Universal Intelligence, Source, the Tao, the Great Spirit, the Infinite Mystery, but in can only be known as true love.”Joan Borysenko

” I was in a state of quiet, almost passive enjoyment, not actually thinking, but letting ideas, images and emotions flow of themselves, as if it were through my mind. All at once I found myself wrapped in a flame colored cloud…there came upon me a sense of exultation, of immense  joyousness immediately accompanied by intellectual illumination impossible to describe…I saw the Universe as composed of a living Presence…that the cosmic order is such that works together for the good of all things…that view  or may I say consciousness has never even during periods of deepest depression, been lost.”

Richard Bucke, Cosmic Consciousness, 1873

Recommended Readings:

The Ways of the Mystic, Joan Borysenko. This books provides seven paths to the sacred. Shared are spiritual teachings that do not follow any religious doctrine.

The Experience of Insight, Joseph Goldstein, Here is a modern classic with unusually clear, practical instruction for the practice of meditation.

Seeker, Traveling the Path of Enlightenment,Archetypes of the Collective Unconscious Volume Three, Exploring our Spirit through American Literature and Art. An interesting read which addresses America’s take on Spirit.

Awakening Consciousness

US6orbjoepat“Einstien said, The significant problems cannot be solved at the same level that they were created,” were Joe Vitale’s first words. He went on to say that we must elevate our consciousness in order to transcend  the level at which the problems were created. Vitale spoke to a room full of  Pat O’Bryan’s Unseminar  attendees in San Antonio, Texas. He shared the four steps that each of us can take to transcend any problems in life.

He talked about step one and how we begin as what he called the big “V” as victims. Then we eventually move into the Empowerment stage. Then along comes an awareness of things  with things like the book called “the Secret,”we begin manifesting parking spaces, writing affirmations, and as we do these things we start ” bumping up against a new reality hearing stories of how someone else also did it.
In the third stage, we surrender-giving our problems to a higher power. In this stage comes an “AHA” moment and a glimpse of the Divine.

In the final stage, comes an awakening, where you become one with the Divine. You have thoughts and think, who has those thoughts. Who is having these thoughts? Who’s observing? You have emotions and think, who and what experiences emotions? You realize you are the WITNESS.  He went on to say to stay connected you must meditate daily. In this stage, you must be aware and stand guard over your thoughts. Start changing your inner talk to more of an inner coach. Vitale emphasizes the need to clear and shares Ho’oponopono phrases to be repeated,” Please forgive me, I’m sorry, Thank you, I love you,”

He concludes with the more you practice the less frequently you slide back into stage one. Use whatever tools you have to do whatever it takes to awaken. When you have “flickers” with these kinds of glimpses into what is possible, you just want to stay there. The benefits, he says are the distinctions of miracles in your ordinary life. Be here NOW in this moment and you will attract this and more. He ended by saying,” I am totally satisfied with my life, I just want more!”

Sharing this path with many great spiritual leaders like Joe Vitale is a great privilege and we are fortunate to be living in a time where such discussions can happen.

Everyday Ways to Meditate

meditate_on_beach-1© Marian LaSalle and Joan Maresh Hansen,
Swirl Girls,2009

“Meditation is the art of paying attention to your heart. Rather than withdrawing from the world, meditation can help you enjoy it more fully, more effectively, and more peacefully.” Dean Ornish, M.D.

Why do we meditate? Dr. Wayne Dyer in his book Getting in the Gap tells us reasons why people meditate including reducing stress, cultivating a sense of peace, eliminating fatigue, slowing the aging process, improving memory, finding clarity of purpose, and even healing. Dyer goes on to say that,” these reasons pale in comparison that meditation is our way of making conscious contact with God.”
Here are everyday ways to meditate on your own, whenever you choose. (more…)
