What are you focused on?

I Love this quote-
“If we threw our problems in a pile with everyone else’s we would grab ours back” Author Unknown
I often wonder when I’m going through a tough time what kind of lesson I will learn when I’m on the other side. If you stay focused on the outcome and take the time to think thoughts like this, it really does help you get through the most challenging times. We all have them and they are different for each of us. My fears and negative thoughts might seem silly to you and the same goes for yours, so don’t try to compare your life with anyone else’s.
- Stay Focused on the outcome or goal
Staying focused on the outcome can be hard if you just try to remember but if you turn it into a habit, it will come to you quicker and easier. When I first started trying to remember- as I was experiencing a problem, it might dawn on me a week later or even a month would go by, but as I stayed with it and continued to study and learn the principles of the Law of Attraction it got easier and came faster. Soon I was able to hear myself say “Oh that’s right I’m staying focused on the outcome” or “In my old life I would have reacted that way” and snap out of my funk or feel soothed instantly. The feeling of being connected to source and ALL THAT IS, is so comforting that it’s worth the time you take to make it a GOOD HABIT!
“In order to attain balance, we have to learn the art of patience even as we strive to achieve our highest vision of who we are” Daily OM
- Stay focused on the outcome or the goal and everything else will fall into place.

Application of Modern Mysticism
Have you ever learned something and then never taken the action to apply what you learned to your life? There is an entire world that opens up to you as you study each new subject. If you sign up for a cooking class, you learn about new tools and new terminology and new skills. If one pursues an art class, the same is true. For over forty one years, my interest has been in the area of metaphysics. What is in life beyond our physical body? What is that energy that creates worlds?
My discovery lead me to a body of work to study called mysticism. Mysticism is described as the absolute power available to human beings. As you begin taking steps down this path of study, what begins to unravel are life’s deepest mysteries. It is as though you have walked into a classroom of the greatest minds who ever lived. However, no matter how much you study or how much you learn, it will make no difference in improving the quality of your life or the lives of others unless you can take the necessary steps to apply this knowledge.
If there is a Higher Power that can perform miracles in each of our lives then why don’t we apply this knowledge therefore demonstrating it?
In today’s society, mysticism is a much abused word. Put simply, it represents one’s highest quest of human growth and awareness. It wakes one up to the potential inside oneself. Many place other practices within this same category which can include tarot cards, fortune telling, crystal gazing to tea leaf reading. It is not these things, it does however include the following;
- discovering the nature of reality within the relationships of man-woman, mind, and the Universe.
- discovering and confirming the presence of a Universal Intelligence that resides within the deep levels of the human mind,
- making direct contact with this Universal Intelligence,
- experiencing this presence, to know Universal Intelligence exist and can be contacted,
- applying the creativity, and power of the Universal Intelligence to improve life,
- intuitively be guided in all of life’s endeavors
As you begin to study mysticism, a whole new world opens up to you with a far greater understanding of your potential and yourself. Modern books that discuss spiritual laws which include the Secret, The Law of Attraction and many others are based on an understanding of how to use these ancient truths in ways that can benefit one’s life and the lives of others.
“ The Mystic path is sunny. It is the way of genuine enthusiasm and lasting cheerfulness. So much awaits you. We finally learn why things happen to us as they do, which places us in control of our fortunes. Fear and tension vanish once and for all. No person and no circumstance can disturb our inner peace. “
“You, the reader, possess great capacities for miraculous self enrichment. You need only exercise these powers as best you can.”

- Fresh Perspective
A Fresh Perspective
I believe we all need someone or something to remind us of the truth behind the scenes. We get caught up in the drama and trauma that life can be but, as we all know, just like a play or movie, the reality is behind the scenes of all the acting and the roles we are playing. We are spiritual beings having a human experience and it’s set up this way from the day we are born. We start off early identifying ourselves by the roles we play, forgetting that these roles can shift and change with one thought. When we were young, we looked forward to these role changes and were eager to see what happened next. When we are reminded of the truth behind the scenes, we can choose to embrace the new thought and start a new (better role).
- Do you have a support system in place to remind you of the truth when you forget?
Remind yourself and others to see that each change can be an adventure, a celebration, and a chance to play a new part, we can recapture the joy of our childhood as we move from one role to the next.
Why don’t you start by reminding someone in your life that if they don’t like the role they are currently playing that they can hire a new director to change the scene or, better yet, think a new thought and start a new role that’s even better than the one they are currently playing. Give someone you care about a fresh perspective on life and a greater life experience- REMEMBER TO INCLUDE YOURSELF. Set up a reminder system if you don’t already have one in place like, a friend who can remind you and sticking up some affirmations around your home and office. Here’s an example of a good affirmation to put out on your mirror or on your computer.
Example: I AM HAVING MORE POSITIVE REACTIONS TO DAILY EVENTS IN MY LIFE.
Placing affirmations in your POWER PLACE (places you frequent) allows you to have reminders with these positive affirming statements that point to new possibilities. Wonderful possibilities that FEEL exciting. Ones that get you out of bed each morning with a spring in your step and a smile on your face.
Too often we get “stuck “ in a belief system that no longer serves us, so why not change that old belief system to a newer, fresher perspective.
“You can have anything you want if, you want it desperately enough, you must want it with an exuberance that erupts through the skin and joins the energy that created the world.” Sheila Graham
When we choose to do something differently from the way we have always done it— it’s at that moment the ripple effect happens like throwing a pebble on a pond. With each small change eventually the small indelible moments of courage burst through and both you and your world are changed.
Choose to do whatever it takes to keep yourself looking at life with a fresh perspective.

“Einstien said, The significant problems cannot be solved at the same level that they were created,” were Joe Vitale’s first words. He went on to say that we must elevate our consciousness in order to transcend the level at which the problems were created. Vitale spoke to a room full of Pat O’Bryan’s Unseminar attendees in San Antonio, Texas. He shared the four steps that each of us can take to transcend any problems in life.
He talked about step one and how we begin as what he called the big “V” as victims. Then we eventually move into the Empowerment stage. Then along comes an awareness of things with things like the book called “the Secret,”we begin manifesting parking spaces, writing affirmations, and as we do these things we start ” bumping up against a new reality hearing stories of how someone else also did it.
In the third stage, we surrender-giving our problems to a higher power. In this stage comes an “AHA” moment and a glimpse of the Divine.
In the final stage, comes an awakening, where you become one with the Divine. You have thoughts and think, who has those thoughts. Who is having these thoughts? Who’s observing? You have emotions and think, who and what experiences emotions? You realize you are the WITNESS. He went on to say to stay connected you must meditate daily. In this stage, you must be aware and stand guard over your thoughts. Start changing your inner talk to more of an inner coach. Vitale emphasizes the need to clear and shares Ho’oponopono phrases to be repeated,” Please forgive me, I’m sorry, Thank you, I love you,”
He concludes with the more you practice the less frequently you slide back into stage one. Use whatever tools you have to do whatever it takes to awaken. When you have “flickers” with these kinds of glimpses into what is possible, you just want to stay there. The benefits, he says are the distinctions of miracles in your ordinary life. Be here NOW in this moment and you will attract this and more. He ended by saying,” I am totally satisfied with my life, I just want more!”
Sharing this path with many great spiritual leaders like Joe Vitale is a great privilege and we are fortunate to be living in a time where such discussions can happen.

If you have ever found yourself in a bad mood because something went wrong, before you let your mood spread out in a negative way and affect your life and others around you for days to come, take time to say to yourself WAIT….. Remember this article and pause.
Create a positive vibe that can influence your whole day. I’m not asking you to put a happy face sticker over your genuine feelings, what I’m asking you to do is to allow in a ray of sunshine to heal the cause of your bad mood, feelings of doubt, fear or frustration.
Acknowledge your dark mood in an observer role. Talk to yourself about doing things differently this time and from now on. Make it a game or a fun challenge. You can even say in my old life I would have stayed in this place of feeling bad, in my new life I am choosing to think differently. Say” I choose to be happy now.”
You CAN allow and accept your darkness and easily allow and accept a positive outcome too. As soon as you start to feel your blood pressure rise or your stomach to sink, STOP right then and say to yourself WAIT…. Oh that’s right I’m doing things differently now.
” Gloom we have always with us, a rank and sturdy weed, but joy requires tending.” Barbara Holland
By changing your thoughts you can change your mood instantly. Know that things can and will change just by changing the way we think about the issues and challenging people in our lives. You can reprogram your brain to remember to start this process just like you programmed your old response. Do whatever you have to do to remember.
- Put up affirmations that stick on your mirrors,
- write yourself notes,
- record your voice on a digital recorder and
- have your friends trained to remind you when you call to complain.
Whatever it takes to remember, DO IT. You can reprogram your subconscious to handle whatever is happening around you in a positive, delightful manner. Each day program your mind with positive affirmations that you know are true and have a feeling of joy and love.
This is a great way to give yourself a gift that will last a lifetime and will come in handy when you are working through tough times and hard feelings.
As soon as you wake up in the morning say to yourself, I’m doing things differently today. You will pre-set your day BEFORE anything has a chance to bring down your mood. No matter where you go, who you see, what you do, if you do whatever it takes to remember to change your thoughts, your life will get better and better.
Remember, you can change your life in more ways than you ever thought possible just by deciding to do things differently today.
I leave you today with some positive affirmations you can use to start this process TODAY.
“My positive thoughts are changing my life and it feels so good”
“All day today I will remember to do things differently”
“My possibilities are an endless source of joy”

Increase your wealth with affirmations!
Affirmations are anything that we think or say. Unfortunately, most of what we say and hear others say is negative. We hear ourselves saying, ” how we hate this job.” or we don’t want this or that in our lives.
If we want to change something by manifesting it into our lives, we must state what we do want. We must ” make firm” or affirm that we are willing to see ourselves from this new vantage point. Just as Dr. Wayne Dyer says, ” Change your thoughts and therefore change your life.”
Consider the words that we say and the thoughts that we think like planting a seed. First the seed germinates, then it sprouts roots , then it pokes up from the dirt, it takes time to go from a seed to a full grown plant. The same is true for affirmations. Be patient with yourself as the changes begin to take place.
What you say is what you get in our life.
What area of your life are you looking to change?
Affirmations can assist you in transforming that part of your life. In case you are unfamiliar with the effective use of these powerful positive declarations. Affirmations are to be stated consistently—in present tense as though they already exist and should be said with feelings. An example would be if you state that the perfect job is coming your way. It keeps that perfect job in the future, without ever arriving. State instead that. ” I have a fabulous new job, making $______ a year and working less than before while enjoying it more while having fun each day.”Think how it will feel to have this desire already be true and then ” feel” that good feeling while saying your affirmations. Some people enjoy doing ” mirror work.” This simply means you look yourself in the mirror while repeating your positive phrases.
We must become aware of our thoughts and words. If it is true that “thoughts create,” what are you sending out most of the time? Keep track of your inventory of thoughts and words so that you can realize your dreams.
Dr. Patricia Crane said in her book,” Ordering from the Cosmic Kitchen stated,
“In this moment, I choose to believe that I deserve a wonderful life. I lovingly notice any limiting thoughts and gently weed them from my inner garden. I choose positive, nurturing, thought patterns for myself.”
Crane compares knowing what we want in life to knowing what we want in a restaurant. You are handed a menu and have to decide what you want in order to tell the waitress. The same holds true in life, you must begin to tell the Universe all that you want. We do that with every thought we think and word that we say—so we are sometimes choosing by default. Why not consciously affirm that which we want in all areas of our life?

Sometimes when we are feeling blue, some of us tend to soothe ourselves with comfort foods. We all know that emotional eating is not the way to feel better in the long term and yet we do it anyway. Why do we do it? Because we want to feel good— and, there’s not much more depressing than the guilt we feel right after a big bowl of ice cream. So, we did our research and found some foods that can boost your mood. Eaten in moderation you might even notice yourself perking up.
Scientists are sharing their knowledge about foods ability to alter the production and release of neurotransmitters, the chemical messengers that carry information from one nerve cell to another. The foods you eat can affect your mood, including your level of alertness and your perception of pain.
Next time you’re feeling a little blue try these different kind of comfort foods.
- Oatmeal: A warm bowl of oatmeal can help elevate your mood because it’s rich in soluble fiber, which helps to smooth out blood sugar levels by slowing the absorption of sugar into the blood. Try sprinkling on a dash of cinnamon to add to the aroma.
- Walnuts: These are an excellent source of omega-3 essential fatty acids, a type of fat that’s needed for brain cells and mood-lifting neurotransmitters to function properly. Toast your walnuts and sprinkle them over your salads. Try another one of my favorites by mixing some in your yogurt or cottage cheese.
- Chai Tea: This is one of my favorite mood lifters. It’s an Indian tea made with regular black tea plus spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. The spices also add a natural sweetness, which helps curb that sweet tooth. Also try any aromatic herbal tea for a chance to breathe in the relaxing fragrance.
- Salmon: In the past few years, research has suggested that vitamin D may increase the levels of serotonin, one of the key neurotransmitters influencing our mood. Salmon is also an excellent source of omega-3 essential fatty acids. Added bonus: it tastes delicious!
- Steamed Spinach: Warm and tasty, steamed spinach has enough folic acid to be an important counter to depression. As little as 200 micrograms of folic acid was enough to relieve the depression in clinical studies– that amount is easily obtained in a cup of cooked spinach or a glass of orange juice.
So if it is true that you are what you eat, then why not be happy, healthy and energized by making choices that feel good in you and for you. Also, always try to go organic when possible!

What would you consider to be living the good life? For many people it would be doing what they have always wanted to do with their lives. For others it would be the discovery of what it takes to be happy. It is important to me to be at peace with whatever occurs in my present situations each and every day. Sharing processes and epiphanies that can assist others in being more joy filled on our shared path is another preference. The list will be different for each person as to what constitutes living the good life.
For over four decades my path has been complimented with a course of spiritual studies where without a doubt it became evident to me that life is an inside job. No matter what is happening outside in the world, it is how you respond to it within yourself that really matters.
Finding ways to remain tapped into Source is another way to align yourself to stay in what is called “in the flow.” When aligned, things tend to go more smoothly and coincidences and serendipitous events happen that are sometimes unexplainable, like that phone call of someone you were just thinkin’ of or the perfect partner or job path shows up that meets your expectations with ease and little if any struggle on your part.
For many years as a seeker, courses were taken, books were read, and constantly my intention was to learn how to get to where I wanted in life. Only to finally discover that what it took instead was to shut off the world, stop watching the news, quit being swayed by the glossy magazines of “thin super models, “and to listen instead to that still quiet voice within. There resonating from deep within is where the guidance comes.
“What I mean by living to one’s self is living in the world, as in it,not of it.”William Hazlitt
Breathnach says in Simple Abundance, ” Only when the clamour of the outside world is silenced only then will you be able to hear the deeper vibration.” Pay attention, do whatever it takes to listen. Walk in nature, meditate, watch a sunset, allow that voice to be heard. And then know that when an image flickers across your mind, an idea suddenly presents itself that —Spirit is singing it’s song.

Accepting while blessing what life gives us can have a transformative effect on our lives. We must learn to be content with how life is in each moment. Acceptance is surrendering to life in the moment. Although, not an easy thing to achieve when the circumstances are not in our mind ideal. When we look at our life in the moment, we may look at our present feelings, our challenges, our money, our work situation, our relationships, or our long overdue dreams. Someone said, before we can change anything, we must be content with how things are right now.
Sarah Ban Breathnach said that,”over the years she discovered that much of her struggle to be content despite outside circumstances has arisen when she stubbornly resisted what was actually happening in her life at the present moment. “ She goes on to say that when she accepts and stops resisting—“a softening of the soul occurs.” Accepting things can open us up to receive more goodness and abundance. Acceptance brings with it both a relief and release. “It’s as if the steam of struggle has been allowed to escape from life’s pressure cooker.”
Whatever we resists –persists. When we accept things as they are, we relax. As we relax, our vibration changes alongwith our energy patterns. Then— once again we can tap into that wonderful endless flow of Universal energy.
Make up your mind that whatever is happening in your life, accept it. Look around you and allow it. Natalie Goldberg says,” Our task is to say a holy yes to the real things in our life as they exist.” Acknowledge that this is how much I weigh, my office is crowded, this is my job, my family, and whatever else is true about your present situation. This is my life right now. Allow things to be as they are and be ready for the healing process of change that can now begin it’s transformation.

Journaling gives us a chance to write as we are witnesses to our own life experiences. As we write we share our questions and arrive at new insights that surface from our questioning. Writing becomes our journey.
May Sarton said at the age of 70,
“ I feel happy to be keeping a journal again. I‘ve missed it, missed naming things, as they appear, missed the half hour when I push all duties aside and savor the experience of being alive in this beautiful place.”
Natalie Goldberg describes in Writing Down the Bones, her pile of spiral notebooks as each day she wrote page after page of daily writing. She wrote complaints, boring descriptions, angry statements, on and on she went day after day. She discovered that underneath all of this junk was something real-each of our minds—our first thoughts— are somewhere below the surface of life. This kind of writing tells us who we think we are and verifies our being human.
As we look back over our written words in black and white, we can then acknowledge who we are without criticism. When we eventually begin to write from our own minds, junk may pour from us for weeks or years as we have accumulated this over time. Then when we no longer fear the voices inside of us then we will not fear the critics outside of us.
Believing in the writing process in order to discover each of our authentic voices is the possibility that I envision. Posting on blogs is a new beginning. It is said that when we start anything new, resistances fly in our face. Do you find that to be true?
